Racers Post Program Record 269 at Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate

The Murray State men's golf team carded a school-record 15-under-par 269 in the second round of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.

With 18 holes to play Tuesday morning, the Racers (286-269=555) were in third place chasing host Arkansas State (541) and Jacksonville State (553). The record round for the Racers featured scores of 65 from Lennon Albans, 66 from Brady Haake, 67 from Trey Lewis and 71 from Jay Nimmo.

Albans posted a 7-under-par 65 in the afternoon second round to get a spot in sixth place. His scores of 71-65=136 was just three shots off the lead of Jacksonville State's Erik Jansson (65-68=133). Albans jumped 15 places to sixth which featured an amazing 5-under-par 36 on the front nine.

Albans' 65 was the lowest score for the Racers since Jay Nimmo carded a 65 (-7) last spring at the Ernie Denham Classic in Louisville. The last 7-under score prior to that was in 2016 when Preston French had a 65 at Jackson Country Club (TN) at the Grover Page Classic .

Another Murray State newcomer, Brady Haake, was in 12^th place after scores of 73-66=139.

The 54-hole event plays its final 18 holes Tuesday morning.
