MSU Athletics Excels in Community Service During 2023 Fall Semester

The student-athletes and staff of Murray State Athletics had a big fall semester in community service efforts
One of the key pillars of the Dennis Jackson Racers Leadership Program, powered by Swift & Staley, is the commitment to community service.

Murray State Athletics had a big fall 2023 semester in which 734 hours of community service were logged by the Racers' more than 350 student-athletes and staff, nearly surpassing the year-long total from the 2022-23 athletics year.
Â
In total, the Racers served 22 local organizations in Murray and Calloway County.

"We are so incredibly proud of each of our student-athletes and staff for giving their time back to our community," Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "What we have been able to accomplish this semester is a testament to the passion that Racers have for giving back, and we are looking forward to continuing to serve our community and region in the spring and for many years to come."

Murray State's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) was also busy collecting 2,676 food items and $495 dollars which went to restocking the pantry at the Murray-Calloway County Need Line.

Murray State student-athletes also participated in the Racers Day of Service on Nov. 7.
