Batch & Frye Earn All-MVFC Scholar-Athlete Honors

Murray State landed a pair of student-athletes among the group of 43 that were honored by the Missouri Valley Football Conference on its All-Scholar-Athlete Team.

Ryan Batsch was a linebacker for the Racers from Loveland, Ohio and Frye was an offensive lineman from Murfreesboro, Tenn. Both are seniors in the Murray State Football program.

Batsch is working toward his MBA at Murray State and has a 4.0 GPA, while Frye is pursuing a master's in Human Development & Leadership from MSU.

On the field, Batsch appeared in 20 games in three seasons at Murray State with 32 tackles, while Frye was a cornerstone of the MSU offensive line for six seasons from 2018-23. He appeared in 44 games at multiple spots on the offensive line and started the last 38 games he played for the Racers.

The criteria for the All-Scholar Athlete Team from the MVFC includes nominees must be starters or important reserves; must have participated in at least 50 percent of his team's games and carry a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale). Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better both as an undergrad and in graduate school.
