Bats Quiet For Racers On Opening Day

Racers swept on day one in Abilene
Opening day of the 2023 season did not go as planned for the Murray State softball team, as the Racers fell 1-0 to A&M Corpus Christi and 3-0 to UTEP as part of the 2023 Wildcat Invitational at Poly Wells Field in Abilene, Texas.
Game one was a pitcher's duel between the Racers' Jenna Veber and the Islanders' Primrose Aholelei. Veber gave up only four hits on the day and struck out seven, while Aholelei allowed just one hit with 10 strikeouts.
Erin Lackey had the only hit of the game for Murray State, while Lindsey Carroll and Saxon Radcliffe each had a walk.
In game two, the Racers managed three hits against UTEP but still could not score any runs, as they fell to the Miners. Gracie Osbron was 2-for-3 in the game, while Radcliffe has MSU's only other hit.
Murray State returns to action at the Wildcat Invitational Saturday when they take on A&M-Corpus Christi again at 10 a.m., followed by a face-off with the host Wildcats at 1 p.m.
