Two wins Friday pushes MSU’s win streak to five
The Murray State softball team picked up two wins on the first day of the 2023 Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament Friday by beating Dartmouth, 7-2, in the opener, followed by a 6-1 win over Abilene Christian in the nightcap.

- The Racers did the bulk of their damage in game one with a five-run second, then added two more in the sixth. Dartmouth scored its runs one at a time in the third and fourth innings.
 - Gracie Osbron drove in three runs on two doubles in the contest, while Ailey Schyck and Bailey Broemmer combined for three runs when each hit the first homeruns of their careers in the second.
 - Jenna Veber picked up the game one win for the Racers by allowing no earned runs over a complete game with four strikeouts and no walks.
 - In game two, the Racers scattered six runs across seven innings, while not allowing Abilene Christian to score until the seventh.
 - Osbron added three more RBIs to her total of six on the day in the top of the third when she blasted her fifth home run of the season.
 - Hannah James also went the distance for Murray State and also allowed no earned runs. She finished the day with seven strikeouts and only one walk.

Murray State continues play at the 2023 Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament Saturday against Dartmouth at 10 a.m., followed by host Mississippi State at 12:30 p.m.
