Tee Time – Racers Ready For First Appearance In MVC Championship

The Racers travel to Waterloo, Ill., for The Valley event at Annbriar Golf Club
The Murray State women's golf team is ready to compete in their first Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
Annbriar Golf Club in Waterloo, Illinois is the site of the 54-hole event that is played Sunday through Tuesday (April 16-18). The schedule of play calls for 18 holes each day before the 2023 MVC champion is produced.
Murray State's Payton Carter and Eliza Ma Kho continued her excellent 2022-23 campaign with finishes of 18th and 23rd last week at the GSU Invitational in Georgia. Carter and Kho each carded sub-par rounds in the final round. Carter is fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 75.3 scoring average and Kho is 16th at 76.8.
Payton Carter is having a great season as the Racers' top player with a scoring average (75.0) that ranks fifth in the Valley. She has six top-10 finishes in 2022-23 and four in the top-5 with one win.
Eliza Mae Kho has shown she can play high level golf with a scoring average of 77.7 to rank 15th in the MVC.
Kho has a pair of top-five finishes and he 68s at the Atlantic Invitational are tied with for the lowest round in the MVC in 2022-23.
Annbriar Golf Course opened in 1993 and was named the No. 3 course in the Prairie State in 2021. It has also hosted events on the Korn Ferry Tour from 2018-21. From 2012-17, Annbriar was named the No. 35 course in the USA by Golf Advisor.
The MVC had its first women's golf championship in 1983, which makes the 2023 staging of the event the 40th competition for The Valley's top prize. There wasn't a championship played in 2020. Illinois State won the team title in 2022 and Drake's Kristen Giles was the individual champion. The Redbirds have won an MVC best 14 team titles and have produced 13 individual champions.
