Lewis & Holmes Lead Racers In MVC Championship Start

The Racers are taking on Oakwood CC in Coal Valley, Illinois
The Murray State men's golf team had a spot in seventh place after the first 18 holes of play at the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Championship
in Coal Valley, Illinois at Oakwood Country Club.

The Racers' 289 was their best round since a 285 last September at the Grover Page Classic in Paris Landing State Park. MSU is in front of Evansville (294) and Missouri State (297) and one shot behind Bradley (288). Illinois State has the leader after posting a 276, with Valparaiso (279), Belmont (284) and Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa, each at 287, making up the top-5.

Trey Lewis and Carson Holmes led the Racers with spots in 14th and 17th place. Lewis carded a 1-under-par 71, while Holmes posted an even par 72.

Round two begins at 9:40 a.m. with Jay Nimmo hitting the first shot of the day for the Racers.
