Racers Fall to Aces in Tight Battle

Murray State fell 3-2 to Evansville in the MVC Tournament
Murray State baseball dropped a tight contest 3-2 to Evansville on Thursday night in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute, Indiana. After Thursday, the Racers are one of just four teams remaining in the field as they are set to take on Missouri State on Friday morning at 10 a.m. CT.
Bryce Valero had a very strong performance on the mound for the Racers as he went 6.0 innings pitched while allowing just two runs and picking up five strikeouts. The outing gives MSU two consecutive starts of at least six innings pitched and less than three runs allowed in the tournament.Â
At the plate, Murray State was able to piece together five base hits, culminating with a two-run inning in the sixth inning as Drew Vogel picked up an RBI single before Carson Garner drove in a run on an RBI groundout.Â
Logan Bland and Dustin Mercer each scored a run in the contest.

The Racers now meet Missouri State for a second time in the tournament after the Racers defeated the second-seeded Bears 6-1 on Wednesday night.Â
