Racers Fall to Bulldogs in Five

Murray State fell on the road to Drake, 3-2.
The Murray State Racers (9-6, 4-2 MVC) fell to the Drake Bulldogs (9-7, 5-0 MVC) 3-2 at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday.
The Bulldogs improve to 5-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play and remain tied with UNI for first place while the Racers fall to 6th with an MVC record of 4-2.
Drake came out on top in a back-and-forth first set 25-23 after a pair of kills by Ashlynn Kuhn, however, the Racers returned the favor in the second, winning 25-19. The third set was another close one with the Racers finally coming out on top 27-25. The Bulldogs came out on top in the fourth 25-17 to move it to a vital fifth set where they once again came out on top 15-6.
Ella Vogel led the way for the Racers with 14 kills and 17 digs. Darci Metzger added 12 kills while hitting .321 and added five block assists. Dahlia Miller led the team in digs with 33. Bailey DeMier totaled 40 blocks and added 11 digs and six kills with a .353 hitting percentage.
Megan Witte delivered a solid performance for the Bulldogs, putting up 20 kills and 25 assists. Macy Daufeldt led the team with 28 kills and added 12 digs. Jada Wills led the team with 40 assists and Addison Beagle led the way with 34 assists.
The Racers now turn their attention to UNI (10-7, 5-0 MVC) who they will face on Saturday, October 12 at 5 p.m. at the McLeod Cedar in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
