The Racers took on longtime rival Austin Peay for golf bragging rights
For seven decades, the Murray State Racers and Austin Peay Governors have created one of the top rivalries in all of collegiate sports, that creates great enthusiasm every time these two schools compete no matter what the sport is.
Â
For several years now, this rivalry has been called the Battle of the Border.
Â
Hopkinsville Country Club hosted this addition of the BOR that featured women's golf in seven head-to-head matches on Sunday afternoon in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Â
With the competition tied 3-3, the final match on the course would decide the day. Murray State freshman, Tin von Arx trailed APSU's Autumn Spencer by four with four holes to play. The MSU freshman managed to win the next three holes and if she could win the 18th hole, the match would've gone to a playoff. Von Arx had a 20-footer to tie the match, but lipped it out, as the Governors won the dual meet 4-3.
Â
The Racers continue their fall season (Oct. 14-15) at the Lady Red Wolves Classic at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
