The Racers begin the 2024 season at home in a three-game series starting on Saturday with the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky.
Murray State leads the all-time series 11-5, going 3-1 in a four-game series played between the two programs in 2021. MSU is 7-3 in its last 10 matchups with PFW and have won six of their last seven meetings.
Scouting Report
The Mastodons went 13-43 with an 8-22 record in the Horizon League in 2023. Outfielder Ben Higgins is one of PFW's key returners, batting .290 with 10 home runs and 46 RBIs. Right-handed-pitcher Mac Ayres is one of the Mastodons' most experienced returners with 64 innings on the mound. He went 3-5 in 19 appearances with 59 strikeouts and a 7.03 ERA in 2023.
