Football Adds Spring Signees to Round Out Signing Period

Murray State football makes several key additions on spring signing day
Murray State football announced 10 new signees as part of the February 7th National Signing Day. The spring signing period completes Head Coach Jody Wright's first group of signees in just under a month after being named head coach of the program.Â
Below is a full breakdown of the 2024 spring signing class:
Trevor Newell, TE/LS, 6-2, 225, Clarksville, Tenn.
- Named All-Region and Montgomery County All-Star at Kirkwood HS
- Scored five touchdowns and six two point conversions in his senior year while also contributing significantly to the defensive side with 62 tackles, three pass break ups, and an interception
- Brother In-Law Nate Wilkinson played for two seasons at Murray State
Bryce Hampton, OL, 6-2, 300, Albrightsville, Penn.
- Made nine starts in each of the last two seasons at Shippensburg
- Comes to the Racers with three years of collegiate experience at multiple positions on the offensive line
LJ Green, WR, 6-0, 160, Franklin, Ga.
- Rated as a three-star prospect by 24/7 Sports
- Named All-State in Georgia in junior and senior seasons
- Won the Georgia state triple jump championshipÂ
- Multisport athlete who played basketball and track and field
- Chose the Racers over offers from Georgia Tech, UAB, and Middle Tennessee among others
Jordan Washington, RB, 6-1, 215, Helena, Ala.
- Rated as a three-star prospect by both 24/7 Sports and On3
- Named Shelby County Player of the Year in 2023
- Rushed for 1810 yards and 24 TD's in 2023
- First-Team All-State in Alabama
- Picked Murray State over offers from Duke, Appalachian State, and Tulane among others
Blaine Burke, RB, 5-10, 185, Moody, Ala.
- Rated as a three-star prospect by 24/7 Sports and On3
- Rushed for 1120 yards on 7.1 yards per carry as a senior
- Helped lead Moody to a 10-3 record in 2023
- Chose MSU over offers from Louisville, Minnesota, and West Virginia among others
Jordan Sonnabend, LB, 6-3, 225, Bloomingdale, Ga.
- Racked up 41 tackles and an interception in his senior season
- Helped lead New Hampstead to the 4A GHSA Playoffs
Baxter Wright, ATH, 6-2, 185, Gainesville, Ga.
- Threw for over 2000 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushed for 436 yards in his senior season
- Helped lead Gainesville to a 13-1 record in GHSA 6A

Tyrell Campbell, RB, 5-10, 200, London, ON, Canada
- Rushed for 883 yards on 7.4 yards per carry and 19 touchdowns
- Helped lead Rabun-Gap Nacoochee HS to a 13-1 record and a number 54 national ranking
- Named NCISAA All-State as a senior
Huseyin Simsir, TE, 6-5, 255, Sunderland, U.K.
- Totaled 340 all-purpose yards for a Rabun-Gap Nacoochee HS that went 13-1 and was ranked 54th nationally
- Hails originally from the United Kingdom before making the move the United States
Jycel Mosley, OL, 6-1, 310, Milledgeville, Ga.
- Named All-State in Georgia three times at LaGrange HS
- Chose the Racers over offers from Georgia State, Liberty, and Coastal Carolina among othersÂ
- ​​​​​​​Helped lead LaGrange HS to a 9-3 record in 2023
