Racers See Sweetens Cove Match Play Shortened For Weather

Murray State men’s golf team competed in a unique match-play event in the Sequatchie Valley

The Murray State men's golf team played some of their final match with Bowling Green Tuesday morning at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate in South Pittsburg, Tenn., but ultimately had their match called a no contest when rainy weather forced the rest of the event to be canceled.

As the The No. 8 seed, the Racers dropped both of their matches to No. 1 Miami (OH) and No. 4 South Dakota State.

MSU finished in a tie for seventh place with Bowling Green.

Still, the Racers had the chance to play one of the top courses in the nation. When Sweetens Cove opened in 2019, Golfweek had it in their top-25 as one of the best courses in the nation.

Next up for the Racers is an appearance at the Hoosier Collegiate (April 6-7) where Murray State's Jay Nimmo is the defending champion.

MSU plays at the Hawkeye Invitational (April 13-14), before competing in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament (April 21-23) in Sunrise Beach, Mo.
