Racers Collect Several Honors at MVC Tennis Banquet

Coach Jorge Caetano is named MVC Coach of the Year with Racers picking up several awards
Murray State women's tennis earned several honors at the Missouri Valley Conference Tennis Banquet held Thursday evening. Among other honors, the Racers were presented with the MVC Regular Season Championship trophy.
Head Coach Jorge Caetano was named the MVC Coach of the Year after leading the Racers to an undefeated conference season, going 15-5 overall for the spring season. This is the first time that Caetano has received this honor while at Murray State. This was Caetano's ninth season coaching Racers Tennis, and he recently received a contract extension through the 2025 season.
For singles honors, Senior Marit Kreugel earned a First Team All Conference spot at the fifth singles flight after going undefeated in conference play. She finished the spring season with a 12-1 record. Graduates Emma Honore and Natalie Slezakova were named to the Second Team All Conference at the third singles flight and sixth singles flight, respectively.
For doubles honors, the Racers completed a near sweep. Duo Emma Honore/Natalie Slezakova earned First Team All Conference at the first doubles flight, and Paola Campigotto/Marit Kreugel earned First Team All Conference at the third doubles flight. Honore/Slezakova finished the conference season with a 6-2 record, and Campigotto/Kreugel finished 7-1.
Off the court, the Racers earned several Scholar Athlete honors as well. Kreugel and senior Sarah Bureau were named to First Team Scholar Athlete, with Slezakova claiming a spot on the Second Team Scholar Athlete. Senior Annika Pschorr and sophomore Megan Null finished off the list earning Honorable Mention Scholar Athlete honors.
The Racers will have the first day of the tournament off after clinching the number one seed and earning a first round bye. The Racers will play the winners of the Belmont/Drake match on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Beaman Family Tennis Complex in Nashville, Tennessee.
