Sullivan Named Head Strength Coach for Racer Football

Cory Sullivan joins the Murray State football staff as the head strength coach
Cory Sullivan joins Murray State University from the University of North Carolina Charlotte where he was the Assistant Director of Football Strength and Conditioning under Coach Lewis Carella. During his time there, he was directly responsible for the management of the strength and conditioning budget, as well as the winter accountability and summer accountability programs.
Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Coach Sullivan was a member of the Georgia Tech football strength staff. As a member of the ACC program, Sullivan was responsible for the in-season injured athletes program. Coach Sullivan was also the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2022 ACC champion cheer program at Georgia Tech.
In 2019, Sullivan became the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach at historic Clark Atlanta University. During his two seasons at CAU, Coach Sullivan's Special Teams units ranked top 3 in every major statistical category, including the top punt coverage unit and top kickoff coverage unit. During his time with the Panthers, Coach Sullivan coached two All-Conference players in outside linebacker Rodney Lewis and punter Ty Woods.
In 2016, Coach Sullivan became the defensive quality control coach for the The University of South Alabama, coaching the outside linebackers and defensive line, Sullivan was an integral part of one of the top turnarounds in the country. The South Alabama defensive unit was the fifth most improved in scoring defense (-10.3) nationally. The Jaguars finished in the Top 5 in the Sun Belt Conference in pass defense, pass efficiency defense, tackles for loss, and third-down defense. USA was one of two programs with multiple first-team all-conference honorees. Coach Sullivan was part of a staff that upset SEC foe Mississippi State, nationally ranked San Diego State, and earned the program's second-ever bowl berth when they played in the Arizona Bowl.
Before joining the South Alabama coaching staff in 2015, Coach Sullivan spent two years as a Defensive Graduate Assistant Coach at the University of Wyoming, coaching the linebackers. Coach Sullivan has also been an undergraduate assistant coach at his alma mater, the University of Oregon. During his three seasons at Oregon, the Ducks went to three straight BCS bowl games, including a Fiesta Bowl win, a Rose Bowl victory, and two conference titles. During Coach Sullivan's 3 seasons in Eugene, the Ducks ranked in the top 25 nationally in scoring defense and turnovers forced.
Originally from San Jose, CA., Coach Sullivan was raised by Donna Sullivan. Sullivan graduated from The University of Oregon with his Bachelor's degree in Social Science in 2013. He earned his Master's degree in Leadership from The University of South Alabama in 2017. Coach Sullivan now lives in Murray with his fiance Gillian.
