Racers Go Undefeated at Elon Phoenix Classic

Murray State improves to 3-3 after their third straight win.
Murray State Volleyball (3-3) defeated UNC Greensboro (3-2) 3-1 in their final game of the Elon Phoenix Classic on Saturday.
ÂAfter losing the first two sets of their opening game against NC Central Murray State caught fire, winning 9 of their last ten sets on their way to a perfect weekend. Â
ÂThe Racers dropped their first set against the Spartans 25-21 but roared back to take the second 25-15. The Navy & Gold would keep their foot on the gas in the third, winning 25-17 after an 8-0 run. They did not let up in the third as they closed out the match winning 25-13. Josie Newcom slammed the door, delivering the contest's final kill as she registered her first points as a Racer during the final set. Â
ÂThree different Racers registered double-digit kills, with Federica Nuccio putting up 19 while registering a .500 hitting percentage and tallying 14 digs. Darci Metzger put up 16 kills and Ella Vogel put up 13. Vogel's 105 kills lead the MVC and she also leads the conference in points with 106.5. Dahlia Miller led the team with 20 digs and Bailey DeMier totaled 43 assists.Â
ÂMurray State will be back in action next weekend at the SIUE Tournament in Edwardsville, Ill starting on Friday, September 13. Â
