Racers Start Strong But Falter at UNI, Fall 3-0

The Murray State Racers were swept 3-0 by the Northern Iowa Panthers on Saturday afternoon in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The loss marks the ninth straight for the Navy & Gold and drops their record to 2-11 on the season and 0-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Meanwhile, the Panthers improve to 11-5 and remain perfect in MVC play at 4-0.
The Racers got off to a strong start in the opening set, jumping out to a 19-16 lead. However, the Panthers were able to pick up a narrow 25-23 win to move ahead 1-0. The Panthers' success continued in the second and third sets as they stormed out to a 25-10 victory to make it 2-0, and sealed the match with a 25-15 third set win.
Paige Brock recorded a double-double for the Racers with 13 digs and 11 assists, while Ella Vogel led the team with 11 kills. Katie Titus led the team with 14 assists.
Cassidy Hartman led the Panthers with 14 kills, and Sydney Golden put up 19 assists.
The Racers return home next weekend for a pair of MVC matchups. They will host the Indiana State Sycamores on Friday, October 10, at 6 p.m. CT and the Illinois State Redbirds on Saturday, October 11, at 1 p.m. CT. Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
