MSU Wraps Up 2025 Season at NCAA Regional

Murray State competed at Panorama Farms in Virginia in the NCAA Southeast Regional
The Murray State men's cross country capped off the 2025 season by competing in the NCAA Southeast Regional Friday in Earlysville, Virginia.
The Racers came home with a 27th place finish in the 10K race.
In his second season, Dylan Ellis shaved 89 seconds off his lifetime personal best in 32:25 and passed 20 runners to secure a 122th place finish.
Sophomore Nick Schmitz posted MSU's second-best time at 33:18 and not far behind was a strong finish by Freshman Tedi Henderson at 33:47. Henderson managed to pass 16 runners in the second half of the race.
"It can be so tough to make the transition from a 5k to 8k distance at the college level and I knew adding on the additional 2k for this regional meet was going to be a lot to ask of Tedi," said MSU Coach Jordan Johnston. "However, he attacked each hill and ran like he belonged, so I am overall very happy with his first season with us."
Junior Gabe Russell and Senior Dan Schalk rounded out the MSU Top-5 with Russell running at 33:53 and Schalk a personal best 34:19, cutting 33 seconds off his time and passing an 23 athletes. In the final 5,000 meters. Senior Ben Crask also saw big improvements by making a new PR improvement of 49 seconds and Senior Joey Santoro shaved one second off his personal best.
"I think we ended the season on a high note," Johnston added. "There's so much potential in our Top-4 returners for next year and I'm hoping this race gave them the confidence to have a solid winter block of training and be ready to attack the 5k & 10k in the spring. I am extremely grateful for the contributions from our seniors over these last four years and am looking forward to seeing the men's program grow and move up within the Missouri Valley Conference in 2026."
