The event honors Murray State’s Hall of Fame Coach, Velvet Milkman, who launched women’s golf at MSU in 1993
The Murray State women's golf program honors one of the greatest Racers of all time at The Velvet Championship at the Country Club of Paducah in Paducah, Kentucky.
The event marks the third playing of The Velvet, named in honor of Murray State 2024 Hall of Fame selection, Coach Velvet Milkman, who launched MSU women's golf in 1993 and served as head coach for 29 seasons until her retirement in 2022.
The Velvet, also brings in five fellow Missouri Valley Conference squads to Paducah including, Belmont and Southern Illinois.

The schedule of play calls for 36 holes of golf Monday with the final round played Tuesday morning.
