MURRAY, Ky. - Breece Bass scored three minutes into the second half and Griselda Revolorio made four saves for her second consecutive clean sheet as Murray State beat UIC 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Cutchin Field.
The Racers (3-8-2, 2-2-0 MVC) won back-to-back matches for the first time this season and pulled even in Missouri Valley Conference play. It was also Murray State's first win over UIC in Murray. The teams had drawn both previous meetings at Cutchin Field and three of their last four overall.
Bass settled the only goal of the afternoon in the 48th minute, unassisted, moments after the restart. It held up through a second half in which UIC (1-9-2, 0-4-0 MVC) managed two shots.
"It's great," Head coach Ben Madsen said of Breece Bass' goals scored in the last two games, "We want Breece to get on the end of as many balls as we can and score goals, and be dangerous in the box. She makes us a better team when she can do that."
The junior forward has scored in back-to-back matches and now has three goals and three assists, giving her nine points and sole possession of the team lead in both categories. She has two of Murray State's three game-winning goals this season, with Gabriel Ramdeen owning the other against Austin Peay.
Revolorio has not conceded in 180 minutes. The senior goalkeeper faced 10 shots and four on target Sunday after making seven saves against Valparaiso a week earlier, and she now has four shutouts, 61 saves and a 1.23 goals-against average. She has played all 1,170 minutes this season.
