Strategic, donor-funded investments continue Murray State Athletics' commitment to boosting women’s soccer program
Murray State Athletics is making another significant investment in the future of Racer Soccer with the addition of a state-of-the-art videoboard and the installation of stadium LED lighting for the first time in program history at Cutchin Field.
Â
The donor-funded projects are anticipated to be completed ahead of the 2027 soccer season as the program enters year two of the Ben Madsen era.
Â
"These enhancements at Cutchin Field represent another exciting investment in the future of Murray State University and our continued commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for our student-athletes," Murray State University President Dr. Ron Patterson said. "The addition of a new videoboard and the ability to host night games for the first time will have a transformational impact on everyone involved with the Racer Soccer program."
Â
The new videoboard will transform the gameday environment for Racer Soccer, featuring live video and engaging content designed to bring Racer Nation closer to the action while providing additional opportunities to showcase the program and its student-athletes.
Â
"Investments like these are critical to the continued growth of Murray State Soccer and our vision to building championship-level programs across all of Racer Athletics," Vice President & Director of Athletics Nico Yantko said. "Bringing night soccer to Murray State for the first time will create an entirely new atmosphere for our student-athletes and fans, while the addition of a state-of-the-art videoboard highlights our commitment to creating a best-in-class the game day experience. We are excited to see how these strategic enhancements strengthen our recruiting efforts as we position our soccer program to compete for and win championships in the Missouri Valley Conference."
Â
In addition to the videoboard, the installation of permanent stadium lighting represents a historic milestone for Murray State Soccer, providing the program with the ability to host night games for the first time. This transformational enhancement will create new opportunities for scheduling flexibility and community engagement.
Â
"We are beyond excited about what these game day enhancements will mean for our current and future student-athletes, our fans and the overall future of Racer Soccer," head coach Ben Madsen said. "Being able to play under the lights for the first time and having the ability to showcase that on the new videoboard is something we're really excited about. Everyone in the program extends our thanks to Nico Yantko and the athletics administration, Dr. Ron Patterson, the Board of Regents, and all of Racer Nation for their belief in what we are building."
Â
Other investments into the women's soccer program have included:
Murray State Athletics has raised $60 million dollars in support of new facilities, initiatives and championship resources as part of the department's bold, comprehensive $100 million fundraising campaign, Leading The Pack, which was created to further position itself for the future by investing in student-athlete success and wellness, revenue share and competitive resources and world-class facilities.
