Racer Women Selected No. 2 in MVC Golf Preseason Poll

The Racer get their spring schedule going (Feb. 16-17) in Texas
Murray State's women's golf team has been selected second in the Missouri Valley Conference as announced from the league office in St. Louis.
In a vote by the MVC head coaches, the Racers get the spring season underway (Feb. 16-17) at the Texas Golf Throwdown at The Woodlands in Texas.
In the poll of the Top-5 that was released, the Racers are second behind No. 1 Bradley, with Drake, Belmont and Illinois State rounding out the top teams.
"It is encouraging to see the monumental progress we have made with our program in the last few years in relation to the MVC, " said Racers' head coach Philip Nelson. We aren't where we want to be yet, but we certainly aren't where we were. I believe when we entered the Valley we were ranked 7th or 8th out of 12 teams. To be ranked second and still feel like we are building is a fun feeling. Development is happening at a rapid pace and I am excited to get these ladies back into tourney action this spring and heading into the conference championship and postseason."
The 2026 MVC Women's Championship will be played at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., on Sunday-Monday-Tuesday (April 19-21).
