Racers Homer Seven Time, Clinch Series Over Redbirds

Murray State Wins Twice on Saturday at Indiana State
The Murray State Racers (22-21, 13-9 MVC) won two games over the Illinois State Redbirds (25-18, 14-10 MVC) to clinch a Missouri Valley Conference series on Saturday in Normal, Illinois.
With today's wins, Murray State improves to third in the Missouri Valley Conference standings.
Game 1: Murray State 13, Illinois State 7
The Murray State bats came alive early as Kenley Minor hit the first of seven home runs on the day for the Racers in the first inning of Game 1, a two-run shot to center field. The Redbirds answered immediately in the bottom of the inning with a pair of RBI base hits to tie it 2-2.
Katy Huels added one more in the third with her first home run of the season, a solo bomb to right field. The Redbirds tied it up again in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to make it 3-3. The Racers added one more in the fourth when Huels scored on a sacrifice fly by Adison Hicks, and the Redbirds tied it up yet again with a homer to right field.
The Racers took over starting in the sixth when Adison Hicks cleared the bases with a triple to left field to make it 7-4. They continued the scoring in the seventh as Bailey Broemmer got things started with a two-run homer down the line in left field. Kynadee Warner added another pair of runs with a single to right field before Adison Hicks added another two RBI with a towering home run to center field that put Murray State ahead 13-4.
Illinois State attempted to mount a rally in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run homer, but could not add any more runs, handing the Racers a 13-7 win.
Raylee Roby (5-2) earned the win in relief of Bre Haislip, pitching five innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits, and striking out one.
Adison Hicks went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple, a home run, and six RBI. Katy Huels went 3-for-3 with an RBI and four runs scored, and Kynadee Warner went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Kenley Minor and Bailey Broemmer each had two-run home runs, and Parker Holcombe, Reagan Towns, and Ailey Schyck had one hit each.
Game 2: Murray State 6, Illinois State 5
Illinois State got on the board early in the second game of the afternoon, hitting home runs in the second and third innings to jump out to a 4-0 lead.
Murray State began chipping away in the fourth as Kenley Minor put the Racers on the board with her second homer of the day, a solo shot to center field.
The rally continued in the sixth as Minor scored on a sacrifice fly by Bailey Broemmer before Ava Ozment tied it 4-4 with a two-run homer to right field, her second of the season.
The Redbirds took the lead once again in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly that made it 5-4.
In the top of the seventh, Ailey Schyck got on base with a single to right field. After Kynadee Warner struck out, Adison Hicks stepped to the plate and delivered a deep shot to center field, scoring two runs and putting Murray State ahead in the final inning 6-5. Raylee Roby entered the game in the seventh to close for Karlye Graber and allowed just one hit, earning the save and clinching the series win for Murray State.
Karlye Graber (7-5) earned the win in the circle, giving up two earned runs on six hits and striking out three Redbirds across six innings of work. Raylee Roby earned her first save of the year after pitching the final inning.
Kenley Minor went 2-for-3 at the plate, with a home run, a stolen base, one RBI, and a pair of runs scored. Allie Waldron and Ailey Schyck both went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Adison Hicks and Ava Ozment each hit two-run home runs, and Kynadee Warner and Katy Huels both had one hit.
