Skirka Selected for USA Baseball National Team Task Force

MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State head baseball coach Dan Skirka will represent the Racers on the national stage this weekend, serving on a USA Baseball 15U task force charged with helping select the athletes who will advance to next year's 16U National Team training camp.
The assignment marks Skirka's fourth time working with USA Baseball. He previously served as a coach in the MLB-USA Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline League in 2019 and 2023 and was a member of the staff for the 16U/17U National Team Development Program in 2022.
Through his work with the national program, Skirka has coached multiple current major leaguers, including Tyler Soderstrom of the Athletics and Mick Abel of the Minnesota Twins, along with first-round draft picks Slade Caldwell of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Derek Curiel, the fifth overall selection by the Pittsburgh Pirates in this year's MLB Draft.
"I love the whole experience of it," Skirka said. "Coaching top young talent in our country, working alongside former big leaguers, college coaches and the top high school coaches in the country, all while wearing the USA uniform, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I've been blessed to be able to do this and represent Murray State while I'm there."
Skirka guided the Racers to the program's first College World Series appearance in 2025, a run that earned him NCBWA Mike Martin National Coach of the Year honors. He enters his ninth season at the helm of the program in 2027.
