Murray State Athletics Completes $4 Million Worth of Projects Around Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium

Murray State Athletics has continued its prioritization of modernizing its team spaces and amenities throughout Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium, having recently completed $4 million worth of major upgrades and enhancements around the facility.

The department has made major updates to the Draffen Family Performance Center, located on Level 1 of the facility, and installed brand-new FieldTurf with branding to reflect the generosity of the Rudolph Family, a new Racer navy track surface, and added a smaller auxiliary field behind the north end zone.

Future projects coming to Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium include a new videoboard that will be installed during the 2026 season directly across from seating structure, along with the recently-announced Draffen Family Founders Club, which will add new premium activation into the stadium.

"We have made transformational upgrades for the future of Murray State Athletics and our student-athletes," President Dr. Ron Patterson said. "These enhancements strengthen the daily experience of our student-athletes and demonstrate what is possible when passionate supporters believe in the vision for the future."

Made possible through the generosity of the Draffen Family, the Draffen Family Performance Center project features a renovated weight room, an updated sports medicine and athletic training space, and newly-refinished corridors throughout the first level.

"These upgrades elevate our daily operations, enhance recovery and performance, and provide another competitive advantage in recruiting as we continue investing in the future of Murray State Athletics. The renovated performance center includes a modernized strength and conditioning facility featuring upgraded and branded equipment and training space designed to maximize athletic performance for the majority of the department's program. The facility also features a 40-yard turf run for agility and other multi-directional movement training.

On the other end of the performance center, the athletic training facility provides enhanced resources for injury prevention, rehabilitation and sports medicine services, including new hot and cold plunges. The space also received new branding.

In addition to the performance spaces, the project includes the freshly-branded corridors throughout the Draffen Family Performance Center, creating a cohesive, modern feel that showcases the rich brand of Racer Athletics while enhancing the experience for current and future Racers, coaches and recruits.

On the field level, the new turf features the state of Kentucky Racer logo while showcasing the signature of the Rudolph family in the south end zone. A smaller turf field has also been implemented for line work during practice, along with kid zone activation on game day.

A navy track encompasses the field of play to boost the experience of the track & field program and highlight one of the best traditions in sports with the running of Racer 1 after Racer touchdowns.

"The new additions to this facility will continue to elevate the game-day experience for the next generation of Racer fans and provide a huge boost to football recruiting and student-athlete well-being."
