You won't find another Murray State student-athlete who plays with more energy and enthusiasm. A Chicago native, Fernandez is the reigning OVC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year and has high hopes of leading the Racers to another OVC championship. Also today, news of the week for the Racers including weekly OVC awards for T.J. Warren (Football) Izzy Heckman (Soccer), Rachel Giustino (Volleyball), Dalton Bagwell (Men's Golf) and Ana Garcia Picchi, OVC Women's Golfer of the Month.

On this week's Racer Report Podcast, Racer Athletics celebrates their best finish in four years in the Missouri Valley Conference All-Sports Trophy with a runner-up finish. Plus a former Racer competed in the late April Boston Marathon and news from the week that was for the Murray State Racers.

In Murray State Football lore, one of the biggest plays in the 100-year plus history of the program icame from kicker by Shane Andrus. In 2002, the Racers hosted the No. 2 Eastern Illinois Panthers, led by quarterback Tony Romo at Roy Stewart Stadium, and by the end of the day, Andrus had his moment. He booted a 52-yard field goal on the final play to give the Racers a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title. Among those who remember that day are the Voice of the Racers Neal Bradley and EIU's Mike Bradd, MSU Head Coach Joe Pannunzio and Andrus.
