A Chicago native, Fernandez is the reigning OVC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year and has high hopes of leading the Racers to another OVC championship. Warren (Football) Izzy Heckman (Soccer), Rachel Giustino (Volleyball), Dalton Bagwell (Men's Golf) and Ana Garcia Picchi, OVC Women's Golfer of the Month.

With the excitement building of the Missouri Valley basketball season, the Murray State men's and women's teams are right in the middle of the race for The Valley title.
