A busy summer continues for the Racer Athletics with news of the massive improvements for Racer Field, the home of Murray State Softball. We'll hear from head coach Kara Amundson. MVC Commissioner Jeff Jackson comments on his recent appointment to the NCAA D-I Men's Basketball Committee and what it means for the present and future of The Valley. We'll also touch on both Racer basketball teams, football and some key additions to MSU Baseball.

In Murray State Football lore, one of the biggest plays in the 100-year plus history of the program icame from kicker by Shane Andrus. In 2002, the Racers hosted the No. 2 Eastern Illinois Panthers, led by quarterback Tony Romo at Roy Stewart Stadium, and by the end of the day, Andrus had his moment. He booted a 52-yard field goal on the final play to give the Racers a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title. Among those who remember that day are the Voice of the Racers Neal Bradley and EIU's Mike Bradd, MSU Head Coach Joe Pannunzio and Andrus.

In the more than 100-year history of Murray State Basketball, there are a handful of games which creates the thought "How did we just win that game?" In February of 1994, Racers' head coach Scott Edgar and his team had one of those games with OVC rival Southeast Missouri when not only did they erase an 18-point deficit with 4:31 remaining, Marcus Jones scored five points in the final five seconds as the Racers clinched another league championship. Dave Winder is joined by Coach Edgar and Neal Bradley, the Voice of the Racers.

Dave Winder has another installment of the Runnin' with the Racers Podcast with Murray State Hall of Famer Leon Wurth. Playing for legendary coach Johnny Reagan in the early 1970s, Wurth returned to MSU as Coach Reagan's assistant for 11 seasons. Inducted into the Murray State Hall of Fame in 1992, Wurth's career as a player stands the test of time as does his career in Major League Baseball as an expert evaluator and scout. In is a this podcast that suddenly happened while Winder and Wurth were watching Murray State play at the newly renovated Johnny Reagan Field. It's also a big weekend at home for the Racers with the annual spring football scrimmage Friday, but also MSU baseball, softball and tennis all in action on home turf.
