Even at 92 years old, Coach Cal Luther still gets that intense look in his eyes when you start having a conversation about the game of basketball. Still Murray State's longest tenured coach, as he spent 16 seasons on the bench with the Racers from 1958-1974 and is the Racers' all-time winningest coach with 241 victories. He was also director of athletics for more than a decade. Coach Luther was the first coach to take the Racers to the NCAA Tournament with two trips in the 60's. He recruited and coached Racer hall of famers like Jim Jennings, Stewart Johnson, Claude Virden, Les Taylor and Herb McPherson. Wayback Wednesday goes back to 2008 when Nick Newcomb won the OVC men's golf championship at Paducah Country Club with a hole-in-one. Plus more national honors for MSU star sophomore Ja Morant.

Both Murray State Basketball teams are in action week as the postseason continues in 2026. Combining for a school record 51 wins in a single season, the Racer Women are headed to the NCAA Tournament for a second-straight season and the MSU men are playing in the NIT. And we will also check in on the progress of the turf project at Johnny Reagan Field, the home of Murray State Baseball.
