An instructor in Murray State's department of physical education for 30-plus years, Ken Purcell has also enjoyed a side career of assisting on game days. Performing many duties over the years including, official scorekeeper for basketball, football Chain Gang leader and track & field official, Purcell has a unique perspective. He was head women's tennis coach for the Racers in the 1980's and won the program's first OVC championship. The world of sports needs people like Ken Purcell. The people who help run a game and do the things many people never notice. Also today, news of the week from Racer Athletics, including Ja Morant named to the Lute Olson Award All-Decade Team.

It's a big week of spring sports with an eye for the coming football season as Dave Winder reports on the week that was for the Murray State Racers on the Racer Report Podcast. In the more than 100-year history of Murray State Basketball, there are a handful of games which creates the thought "How did we just win that game?" In February of 1994, Racers' head coach Scott Edgar and his team had one of those games with OVC rival Southeast Missouri when not only did they erase an 18-point deficit with 4:31 remaining, Marcus Jones scored five points in the final five seconds as the Racers clinched another league championship. Dave Winder is joined by Coach Edgar and Neal Bradley, the Voice of the Racers.
