One of legends of Murray State men's basketball, Stewart Johnson, was back on campus in 2023 for an amazing trip down memory lane. Long over due, his #40 Jersey was retired before the Racers hosted the Bradley Braves. 58 years since he played his final game with the Racers, Stewart was honored by a grateful Racer Nation as the halftime ceremony highlighted Johnson's career that started in 1963 as the first African American student-athlete to play men's basketball at Murray State University. Inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame in 1979, Johnson also had a professional career that took him all over the world.

In the more than 100-year history of Murray State Basketball, there are a handful of games which creates the thought "How did we just win that game?" In February of 1994, Racers' head coach Scott Edgar and his team had one of those games with OVC rival Southeast Missouri when not only did they erase an 18-point deficit with 4:31 remaining, Marcus Jones scored five points in the final five seconds as the Racers clinched another league championship. Dave Winder is joined by Coach Edgar and Neal Bradley, the Voice of the Racers.
