Andy Mackintosh enters his first season as a defensive assistant at Murray State.
Mackintosh came to MSU as the head coach and offensive coordinator for the East Kilbride Pirates, a semi-pro team in Scotland.
Mackintosh compiled a 38-15-1 record in his five seasons as a head coach. In 2011, led the team to the BritBowl Division I championship. His offense was the most prolific in the British National League, averaging 48 points and over 500 yards of offense per game.
The Pirates finished the 2009 and 2010 seasons as runner-ups in the BritBowl Finals. They were also Division I Northern Conference champions in 2009, 2010 and 2011, as well as capturing five-straight Scottish championships from 2007-11.
Mackintosh coached 13 players that were selected to the Great Britain National Team, the second most of any team in Great Britain. He also served as the offensive coordinator for the National Team in 2011.
During the 2011 season, Mackintosh spent time as a guest observational coach at UTEP. He worked with the team for two weeks during spring practice, and during the regular season against East Carolina and Tulsa.
Mackintosh concluded his playing career in 2004 after playing the majority of his career as a linebacker with the Pirates. He also played for the Great Britain National Team at both the u19 and adult level. He was selected to play for Team Europe during the 1999 Global Junior Championships, and served as the captain of the Scottish Claymores Development Team.
