Cornelius Williams enters his first season as the wide receivers coach at Murray State.
Williams joins the Racers after spending the 2010 season as an offensive graduate assistant at South Alabama.
In his lone season with the Jaguars, Williams helped USA to a perfect 10-0 record in just their second season of football.
The Jaguars offense averaged 439 yards and 41.3 points per game in 2010. USA scored at least 31 points in eight of their 10 games.
Williams played collegiately at Troy, where he helped the Trojans to four Sun Belt championships, and three bowl game appearances.
The Trojans captured their fourth-straight SBC championships with a perfect 8-0 record in 2009. They played Central Michigan in the GMAC Bowl, falling 44-41 to the Chippewas in overtime.
The 2009 season was the most productive for Williams, as he recorded 20 receptions for 341 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 28 punts for 110 yards.
In a come-from-behind victory over Arkansas State, Williams hauled in a fourth-quarter touchdown pass that proved to be the game-winner in the 30-27 victory.
Williams started 10 games during his junior campaign, finishing with 18 catches for 174 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. His best game came against Florida International, when he had four catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Against Southern Miss in the New Orleans Bowl, Williams had two catches for 36 yards. He added a 38 yard punt return late in the third quarter that set up the Trojans on the nine-yard line, ending three plays later with a touchdown.
As a sophomore, Williams appeared in all 12 games and finished the year with 19 catches for 219 yards and two touchdowns. He had a season-high four receptions against Florida, and had a season-best 40 receiving yards against Oklahoma State.
Williams caught six passes for 32 yards in seven games as a true freshman. He caught one pass for four yards against Rice to help Troy to a victory in New Orleans Bowl, the first ever bowl victory in school history.
Williams was a prep standout for head coach Rush Propst at Hoover High School. In four seasons, Williams helped the Buccaneers to a 56-3 record and four-straight 6A state championships.
Williams earned first-team all-state accolades his senior season after setting a school record with 77 receptions for 1,300 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was selected to play in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game, and was ranked16th in the Birmingham News’ Super Seniors.
Also, during his senior campaign, Williams was one of several football players featured on the first season of the MTV series, Two-A-Days.
Williams earned all-district and all-area honors as a junior after registering 55 receptions for 955 yards and 11 scores.
As a sophomore, Williams had 49 catches for 565 yards and nine scores.
Williams graduated from Troy in 2010 with a degree in sport and fitness management.
