Craig Swieton is in his fourth year as the head football strength and conditing coach at Murray State.
Swieton took over responsibilites of working with the football program after spending the 2011-12 season working with the men’s basketball team. In his one season with men's basketball, the Racers went 31-2 and reached their highest ranking in school history at No. 7 in the national polls.
Prior to coming to MSU, he spent four years as the head strength & conditioning coach at Davidson. He oversaw a 5,000 square foot weight room and coordinated all strength & conditioning activities for 21 varsity sports.
Prior to his time at Davidson, Swieton was assistant director of strength and conditioning coach at Central Michigan, where he was a graduate assistant as well from 2003-05.
Swieton also worked as an assistant at Duquesne in 2005-06.
He started his career as an intern at Syracuse in the summer of 2003, working with the football team.
A native of Frankfort, N.Y., he earned a bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science from Springfield College (Mass.) in 2003. He was a member of both the football and track and field teams.
Swieton is a member of both the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). Additionally, he is a level one certified club coach through USA Weightlifting.
Swieton and his wife Jenny, MSU’s head track & field and cross country coach, were married in the summer of 2011.
