Gordon Steele enters his third season as an assistant coach at Murray State. He has coached the offensive line since his arrival, but added the title of run game coordinator to his duties prior to the 2015 season.
In 2015, Steele coached an offenasive line that blocked for the second-best passing offense in the nation at 347.3 yard per game and 12th-ranked offense at 466.1 yards per game.
Steele joined the Racers in 2014 after spending the previous three seasons as a defensive graduate assistant at LSU.
In his time with the Tigers, LSU compiled a 33-7 record and played for the 2011 national championship.
Steele played collegiately as an offensive lineman at Valdosta State, and was a teammate of wide receivers coach Russ Callaway on the 2007 National Championship team.
In his five seasons, Steel helped the Blazers to a 44-13 record and three postseason appearances.
He went to VSU after a standout high school career at North Florida Christian School in Tallahassee, Florida. Steele’s father, Kevin, is currently the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for Les Miles at LSU.
Steele graduated from Valdosta State in 2010 with a degree in criminal justice. He received his master’s in liberal arts from LSU in 2013
