After closing out his playing career a season ago, John Therrell joins the coaching staff at Murray State. Therrell will work with the safeties.
In his one season with the Racers, Therrell recorded 45 tackles and intercepted a pair of passes.
Therrell closed out his home debut in grand fashion as he intercepted a pass on the final play of the game to secure the victory over Missouri State.
He came back a couple weeks later to post a season-best nine tackles and a record a key fourth-quarter interception in the overtime victory against Jacksonville State.
Therrell came to MSU after spending four years at UNLV. Â
Therrell played his senior year of high school at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. He led the state with eight interceptions and was selected a second-team all-state selection.
He played his first three seasons at Murray High School. As a junior, he caught 44 passes for 519 yards and seven touchdowns.
Therrell graduated from UNLV in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He is currently pursuing his master’s in public administration from MSU.
