Matt Forrest enters his third season as the Director of Football Operations and offensive quality control at Murray State. On the field, Forrest helps with the quarterbacks, while also running the scout team defense.
Forrest joined the Racers after spending the previous two years as a student assistant at Huntingdon College. He served as an assistant basketball coach during the 2009-10 season, after serving as the junior varsity quarterback coach in 2008.
Forrest has spent each of the last three summers working for the Montgomery Biscuits, the AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. He spent his final season as the visiting clubhouse manager, after serving as an assistant in the home clubhouse the previous season. He began his time with the Biscuits as a member of the grounds crew.
As a four-year member of the Huntingdon football team, Forrest was part of a senior class that recorded the most victories in school history. The success culminated with the Hawks reaching the postseason for the first time in school history in 2009.
The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native spent his final two years of high school at Oakland High School. He served as the team’s starting quarterback and team captain as a senior.
Forrest spent his first two years at Riverdale High School, helping the Warriors to a state runner-up finish in 2003.
Forrest graduated from Huntingdon College in 2010 with a degree in coaching education.
