- Entering his 10th season at Murray State and fifth as head coach
- Spent four years as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach and one season as the wide receivers coach
- Led Racers to best finish in seven years in 2018 which included a 4-0 start and a win over a ranked opponent
- Saw the Racers complete the largest comeback in recorded history against SEMO, overcoming a 31-point deficit that was capped by a last second kickoff return for the win
- Following the 2018 season, had a career-high six players earn All-OVC honors, saw Malik Honeycutt named as an All-American and Steve Dawson and Levi Nesler named as Freshman All-Americans
- Had three players sign NFL contracts as a result of the 2019 draft in Quincy Williams, Drew Anderson and Marquez Sanford with Williams' becoming the school's highest-ever pick by round going in the third
- Engineered upset of #24 UT Martin in 2017 for three wins over ranked opponents in two years
- Helped D'Montre Wade and Jordon Gandy advance to NFL
- Coached D'Montre Wade to first-team All-American honors and Zach Shipley to Google Cloud Academic All-American Honors
- Had three All-OVC honorees in his third year at the helm (Jordon Gandy, Gabriel Vicente and D'Montre Wade) and two All-Newcomer selections (Vicente and Shuler Bentley).
- In his second season as head coach, led the Racers to take down two ranked opponents for the first time in program history
- Coached quarterback KD Humphries to become the program's all-time leader in passing yards passing touchdowns, pass attempts and pass completions
- Coached kicker Connor Mitchell to set a school record for most field goals in a game with six and being named as the National Special Teams Player of the Week by STATS
- Mitchell led the FCS in field goals per game at 1.8
- Led Jesse Blackburn and Jordon Gandy to be named to the 2016 All-OVC first team, D'Montre Wade and Humphries to 2016 All-OVC second-team honors and Zachary Wade to the 2016 All-Newcomer team
- Led the Racers to back-to-back OVC sportsmanship awards
- In his first season as head coach, led the Racers to the second-best passing offense in the nation at 347.3 yards per game and 12th-ranked offense
- Coached the Racers to a 46-43 overtime win at Tennessee State in 2015Â which marked the first road win for MSU since 2012
- After his first season as head coach, four players were named to All-OVC teams and KD Humphries finished seventh in the STATS Offensive Player of the year voting.
As Offensive Coordinator
- In 2014, produced the third best passing game in the FCS at 327.2 yards per game as offensive coordinator
- In 2013, he led the racers offense to 1,886 rushing yards which were the most at MSU in nearly a decade
- In his first two seasons as offensive coordinator, spearheaded an offense that was the only team in the FCS to rank in the top five in total offense both seasons
- In 2012, the Racers lead the OVC and ranked fifth nationally in passing offense, total offense and scoring offense
- In 2012, coached quarterback Casey Brockman to All-America honors for the second-straight season
- Led Casey Brockman to school record for attempts, completions, yards, and touchdowns in 2012
- In his first season calling plays, the Racer offense accumulated 5.070 yards of offense including a 707-yard effort against Tennessee State.
As Wide Receivers Coach
- Spent the 2010 season as the wide receivers coach and led two Racer receivers to single-season records
- Led Senior Marcus Harris to rank second on the single-season list for receptions, tied for second in yards and tied for eighth in touchdowns
- Harris left MSU as the all-time leader in receptions (216) and yards (2,471) and earned All-America honors from the Associated Press and The Sports Network
- Coached Arthur Brackett to a new freshman record with 62 catches for 617 yards and three touchdowns
- Brackett caught 13 catches against Jacksonville State, falling just two shy of the FCS freshman record
Prior to Murray State
- Spent three seasons as a member of the Georgia Southern coaching staff prior to Murray State where he worked with the wide receivers and handled team travel
- In his second season, the Eagles offense led the SoCon and ranked 20th nationally in passing offense
- Coached receiver Raja Andrews who shattered three season records, one single-game mark and the career receptions record at GSU
- In 2006, served as the offensive coordinator at Newnan High School who won its first region title in 14 years and qualified for the state playoffs
- Standout quarterback at Northgate High School in Newnan, Ga.
- Led Northgate to the title as most improved team in Georgia his junior year
Playing Career
- Played quarterback at Valdosta State from 2001 to 2005
- Part of the 2002 national runner-up squad and 2004 National Championship team
- Earned the start in the first round playoff game his senior year
Personal
- 2005 graduate of Valdosta State in business education
- He and his wife, Rikki, have two daughters, Stella and Emerson
