At Murray State

Yon Boone enters his fourth season as the defensive backs coach at Murray State in 2023.
Leads a defensive back group that has produced 36 interceptions and 155 pass breakups since 2019.
In 2021, coached Marcis Floyd to back-to-back All-OVC honors.
In the 2020 season (played spring 2021) MSU led the OVC in giving only 180.7 yards passing per game.
Coached Marcis Floyd to All-OVC first-team honors and All-America honors in 2020.

Before MSU

Boone spent wo seasons at Colorado Mines as defensive backs coach.
At Mines, coached CoSIDA Academic All American Geoff Keating, developed six all-conference selections and won back-to-back Rocky Mountain Athletic conference titles with a record of 23-3.
From 2015-2017, he served as the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator, as well as the defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator at Lawrence University.
Boone's defense was ranked 14th nationally in pass defense and he accounted for seven Midwest Conference selections as well as MWC Defensive Rookie of the Year Terrell Myers.
As a recruiting coordinator, he oversaw the three largest classes in program history.
From 2012-2015, Boone was assistant head coach for defense and special teams coordinator at Saint Anselm College.
At Saint Anselm, Boone was part of rebuild that accounted for their first winning season in 14 years.
Coached four all-conference selections for the Hawks, two NEC Rookie of the Year selections, as well as first-team All-NEC kicker Shane Grayson
During the 2010-2012 seasons, he served as a defensive assistant at Eastern Kentucky under then-head coach Dean Hood, working with safeties and outside linebackers.
At EKU, coached All-American and first-team All-OVC selection, Jeremy Caldwell.
Began coaching career as a defensive quality control coach at Wofford, where he worked with the defensive backs from 2008-2010.
While at Hamline, was a student assistant from 2006-2008.

Personal

Graduated from Hamline University in 2008.
Majored in social studies education.
In 2011, received his master’s degree in physical education and sport administration from Eastern Kentucky.
Boone and his wife, Brittany, and have two daughters, Emma-Kate and Baylor.
Native of Naples, Florida .
