Shane Nichols is in his second season as assistant coach with the Murray State Racers in 2016-17.
Nichols joined to Murray State after assisting at Hofstra for coach Joe Mihalich for two seasons from 2013-15. He also assisted Mihalich in the 2012-13 season at Niagara. He also served as an assistant under Mike Young at Wofford
Prior to his move to Niagara, Nichols served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Wofford, where the Terriers advanced to the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
Nichols quickly established himself as an outstanding recruiter and developer of talent in the college ranks. He started with an impressive showing as a player and has taken that knowledge and has become a valuable part to the Racers in teaching the game to the student-athletes he coaches.
Nichols earned a degree in sociology from Wofford in 2008 where he was a three-year starter.
As a player at Wofford, Nichols scored 1,482 points in his career and was a multiple All-Southern Conference selection.
