Tim Kaine (pronounced cane) begins his second season with the Racers as an assistant coach in 2016-17.

He joined the Murray State program after serving as an assistant in the 2014-15 season at Georgia Southern.
Â
Kaine has carved out a career in college basketball which includes six seasons at Florida Atlantic. Prior to his time at Florida Atlantic, Kaine coached at Winthrop, Austin Peay, Newberry College and Guilford College.

He Kaine brings 13 years of college experience to Murray State and is an important asset to the Racer team. He is well known and respected and has served at every level of the game. Kaine learned a lot about the game from Coach Mark Byington at Georgia Southern and Coach Mike Jarvis at FAU.

Kaine graduated from Winthrop in 2002 with a degree in sports management and then earned a master’s degree in sport management from Austin Peay in 2003.

Before playing at Winthrop, Kaine played at UT Martin where he played for Racer coaching legend Cal Luther.

Kaine, a native of Oak Ridge, Tenn., is married to Jenny Kaine (Ashworth) and the couple has two children, Tory (3) and new born Avery.
