The Hopkinsville, Ky., native was a key performer for MSU and helped the team earn the 2007-08 OVC Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament a season ago. Petty averaged 10 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game for the Racers in senior campaign.

Before joining the MSU program Petty played four seasons at Christian County High School and helped lead the team to three-straight appearances in the prestigious Sweet 16. The Colonels were district champions all four years during her tenure and earned regional titles her last three seasons.
In her senior campaign (2003-04) she helped Christian County to a 32-4 mark, while being named to the Sweet 16 All-Tournament Team and garnering All-Second Region, All-State honorable mention and All-District honors.
The 2007-08 OVC All-Tournament team member ended her career by being named the Margaret Simmons Female Athlete of the Year.
