At Murray State
- Matt Kelly is in his 20th year with Murray State Athletics in the 2025-26Â school year.
- In 2022, served Murray State Athletics as Interim Director of Athletics, setting the stage for current AD, Nico Yantko.
- Has been in his role as Senior Associate Athletics Director since 2013.
- Prior to that, Kelly served as associate athletics director for internal operations and assistant director of athletics for academics.
- Served as the chairperson of the NCAA Rifle Championships Committee.
- Is an adjunct instructor in sport sociology at Murray State.
- Developed the original program for MSU student-athletes, to prepare for life after competition. That program is now known as the Dennis Jackson Leadership program.
- Serves on the NCAA Initial Eligibility Waivers Committee (IEW).
Before MSUÂ
- Spent two years at the University of Missouri-Kansas City as the Assistant AD for student-services.
- For four-and a-half years, was academic advisor for the football, swimming and diving teams at Florida State University.
- Worked as also a graduate assistant for academics at Eastern Kentucky University.

- Graduated in 1994 from Alma College.
- Earned a master’s degree in physical education and sports administration at Eastern Kentucky University in 1996.Â
