Three freshmen win opening matches at Hoosier Classic Invitational today

Three freshmen on the Murray State women's tennis roster each won their opening-round singles matches at the Hoosier Classic Invitational. The flighted tournament is being played through Sunday at Bloomington, Ind.
Freshman Anna Lask won her opening match in Singles Flight B with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jennifer Hodgeman of Iowa, while her sister, Rachael, won her opener in Singles Flight C against Kendra Clark of Eastern Michigan, 6-2, 6-3. Casady Pruitt also won her first match of the tournament in Singles Flight E with a 7-6, 2-6, (10-6 in the tie-breaking game) win over Judith Diaz of Kansas State.
Senior Melissa Spencer fell in her opening match in Singles Flight A to Indiana's Dora Vastag 6-4, 6-1, while junior Jennifer Ward lost in her first match of the tourney in Singles Flight D to Yelena Olshanskaya of Missouri 6-4, 6-4.
In round-robin play, freshman Christina Hall fell to Louisville's Paige Eber 6-1, 6-3,while sophomore Tami McQueen earned a bye in the first round.
In doubles play, Pruitt and Ward team in Doubles Flight 2 to beat Marijana Adzic and Jessica Loose 8-2 in the eight-game pro set.
In Doubles Flight 1, Leeper and Spencer fell to Hillary Mintz and Hilary Tyler 8-5, while the Lasks fell to Marina Chiarelli and Amanda Mang of Louisiana State 9-8. In Doubles Flight 2, Hall and McQueen fell to Daysi Espinal and Bonnie White of LSU 8-1.
Singles match-ups for tomorrow (Saturday) include Anna Lask vs. Prapaiphan Kansuthi of Eastern Michigan, Rachael Lask vs. Laura McGaffigan of Indiana, Pruitt vs. Indiana's Cecile Perton, McQueen vs. Natalie Laszkowski of Louisville, Spencer vs. Jessica Simosa of Kansas State, Ward vs. Julia Hierl of Louisville, Hall vs. MacKenzie Mekus of Louisville.
Doubles match-ups for Saturday include Pruitt/Ward vs. Perton/Kara Zeder of Indiana, Anna Lask/Rachael Lask vs. Hodgeman/Gloria Okino of Iowa, Leeper/Spencer vs. Indiana's McGaffigan/Vastag, Hall/McQueen vs. Louisville's Hierl/Mekus.
