Hicks sets range record, but Racers fall to host Jacksonville State 6199-6187

The setback was the first of the season for the Racers (2-1), who next visit Austin Peay State on Saturday in an air rifle-only match.
Hicks fired a match-best 1574 after shooting an 1185 out of a possible 1200 in smallbore and a 389 out of a possible 400 in air rifle. Hicks had four perfect 100's while shooting smallbore.
Sophomore Alex Culbertson fired an 1156 in smallbore and a 389 in air rifle for an aggregate of 1545 with three perfect 100's in smallbore. Junior Robert Purdy shot an 1150-385 = 1535, while freshman Justin Sparks fired an 1150-383 = 1533 with four perfect 100's in smallbore.
Jacksonville State was led by James Hall, who shot an 1174-388 = 1562, while Tate Robbins fired an 1155-388 = 1543 and Kari Baldwin shot an 1154-385 = 1539. Kevin Simon shot an 1173 in smallbore, while Larry Nelson fired a 382 in air rifle.
