Racers place second at Kentucky

Murray State fired a 4644 out of a possible 4800 in smallbore and a 1546 out of a possible 1600 in air rifle for an aggregate (combined) score of 6190.
Kentucky Blue had a 4644 in smallbore and a 1554 in air rifle for a 6220, while West Virginia had a 4606-1527 for a 6133, and Kentucky White had a 4542-1524 for a 6066.
Senior Morgan Hicks (Roy, Wash.) had the best individual score with an 1177 out of a possible 1200 in smallbore and a 395 out of a possible 400 in air rifle for an aggregate score of 1572. In smallbore, Hicks had six perfect 100's in her 12 targets and had one perfect 100 in her four air rifle targets.
Junior Robert Purdy (Gainesville, Texas) shot an 1166 in smallbore and a 382 in air rifle for a 1548, while sophomore Alex Culbertson (Salem, Ore.) fired an 1156 in smallbore and a 382 in air rifle for a 1538 and freshman Justin Sparks (Oil City, Pa.) had an 1145 in smallbore and a 387 in air rifle for a 1532.
Non-scoring results for Murray State included senior Beth House (LaPlata, Md.), who shot an 1155 in smallbore and a 379 in air rifle for a 1534; freshman Brandy Boucherie (Henderson, Ky.), who fired an 1148 in smallbore and a 382 in air rifle for a 1530; and junior Mike Gardner (Haslett, Mich.), who had an 1142 in smallbore and a 378 in air rifle for a 1520.
Purdy had two 100's in smallbore, while Culbertson, Sparks, House, Boucherie and Gardner had one each. Hicks had the only 100 among the four team sin air rifle.
Murray State will next host four-time NCAA champion Alaska-Fairbanks on Nov. 25 at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range at MSU's Roy Stewart Stadium.
