Zhan earns OVC Defensive Player honor

Freshman outside hitter Lilli Zhan was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 2.

Zhan earned the honor by averaging 5.29 digs per game, leading Murray State in that category this week. She had a career-high 24 digs at Austin Peay on Saturday and a match-high 13 digs at Tennessee Tech on Friday.

The honor is the fifth weekly honor for Murray State and the first for Zhan. Sophomore outside hitter Paige Sun earned two OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors and one OVC Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore middle blocker Abbi Gui earned one OVC Offensive Player of the Week accolade.

Murray State closes out a five-match road swing on Tuesday at Tennessee-Martin, then returns home on Friday to face OVC rival Tennessee State at 7 p.m. at Racer Arena.
