Racers win fourth straight match, 3-1 over Western Illinois at MTSU

The Murray State women's volleyball team picked up its fourth straight win with a 3-1 win over Western Illinois at the MTSU Invitational in Murfreesboro, Tenn., 30-22, 30-21, 28-30, 30-18.
The Racers (4-4) will take on Appalachian State in the tournament tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m., then will complete its stay in Murfreesboro by meeting tournament host Middle Tennessee State tomorrow at 7 p.m.
Against Western Illinois (0-11), junior outside hitter Kimberly Bunnage had a team-high 19 kills and a co-team-high 18 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Paige Sun had 14 kills and 18 digs, while sophomore middle blocker Abbi Gui had 10 kills and a match-high hitting percentage of .562.
Sun served up a match-high four aces, while sophomore setter Nikki Wong handed out a team-high 35 assists. Wong, junior middle blocker Danielle Sutterer and freshman outside hitter Julie Lashley each had a team-high two blocks.
Western Illinois was paced by 24 kills from Kali Landis. Jessica Manning had a match-high 19 digs, while Landis and Jennifer Alexander had 17 apiece and Ashley Baker had 12. Lisa Suellentrop handed out 41 assists, while Baker and Patty Melinauskas had five blocks each.
