Outside hitter Paige Sun named OVC Offensive Player of the Week

Sophomore outside hitter Paige Sun was named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21, according to a release issued by the league office today.
For the week, Sun averaged 4.00 kills per game with an attack percentage of .248 in bolstering the Racers (6-4, 1-0 OVC) to the MTSU Invitational title, its second straight tournament title of the season. Sun also averaged a team-leading 0.54 aces per game and had 0.54 blocks per game, earning a team-high 64 points last week. She also led MSU with 4.08 digs per game.
Sun is third in the conference with 4.03 kills per game and is sixth in the OVC with 3.92 digs per game.
Sun is the second Racer to be honored this season. Sophomore middle blocker Abbi Gui also earned the honor for the week ending Sept. 7.
As a team, Murray State leads the conference with 16.16 kills per game and 14.61 assists per game. The Racers are second with an attack percentage of .242, fourth with 1.88 blocks per game and fourth with 16.58 digs per game.
Individually, Gui is second in the conference with an attack percentage of .346, followed closely by sophomore setter Nikki Wong in third at .325. Freshman outside hitter Lilli Zhan is sixth in the OVC with an attack percentage of .283.
Sun is third in the conference with 4.03 kills per game, while Gui is fifth with 3.95 kpg. Wong ranks third in the OVC with 11.11 assists per game, while Sun is sixth in digs with 3.92 per game and junior middle blocker Danielle Sutterer is seventh in blocks with 0.81 per game.
Murray State returns to its conference schedule this weekend with a match at Morehead State on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, then a match at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT.
