Anna Lask Wins At Singles, Doubles, But Racers Fall At No. 15 Kentucky

Freshman Anna Lask won her inaugural dual-meet singles and doubles matches at No. 15 Kentucky this morning, but the Murray State women's team couldn't push past the host Wildcats, falling 6-1 in both teams' season-opening dual match.
Lask won at No. 3 singles in straight sets over Lara Maurer 7-6, 6-4, then teamed with her twin sister, Rachael, in winning at No. 2 doubles over Aibika Kalsarieva and Christine Simpson 8-1 in the eight-game pro set.
Kentucky won the doubles point 2-1 when Maurer and Joelle Schwenk won at No. 1 doubles over MSU's Jaclyn Leeper and Melissa Spencer 8-2 and Sarah Foster and Liis Sober won at No. 3 doubles over Tami McQueen and Jennifer Ward 8-2.
In singles play, Spencer fell at No. 1 singles to Foster 6-0, 6-4, while Leeper lost at No. 2 singles to Schwenk 6-1, 6-0. Christina Hall fell at No. 6 singles to Simpson 6-4, 6-3.
Murray State battled at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to split-set losses, as Ward fell at No. 4 singles to Sober 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, and Casady Pruitt lost at No. 5 singles to Caroline Winebrebber 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
Murray State, the three-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champion, will next return to the courts on Feb. 21, when the Racers take on Miami (Ohio) in a quad-meet at Cincinnati, Ohio.
