Hicks fires perfect 400 in air rifle to lead Racers at Withrow Invitational

Hicks finished with an aggregate (combined) score of 1575, leading all shooters thus far.
The Withrow Invitational will continue through Sunday as other teams join the competition at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range at MSU's Roy Stewart Stadium.
Robert Purdy fired an 1167 in smallbore and a 396 in air rifle to score a 1563 for Murray State, while Alex Culbertson shot an 1151 in smallbore and a 380 in air rifle for a 1531. Justin Sparks fired an 1143 in smallbore, while Beth House shot a 383 in air rifle.
As a team, Murray State scored a 4636 out of a possible 4800 in smallbore and a 1559 out of a possible 1600 in air rifle for a team aggregate of 6195.
Memphis shot a 4461 in smallbore and a 1544 in air rifle to take an aggregate of 6005 this afternoon.
On Saturday, Tennessee Tech (smallbore (SB), air rifle (AR)), Tennessee-Martin (SB, AR), Jacksonville State (SB, AR), Ohio State (SB, AR), Mississippi (SB, AR), Mercer (AR) and Austin Peay (AR) will shoot. On Sunday, Kentucky (SB, AR), Missouri-Kansas City (SB, AR), Tennessee-Martin (SB, AR), Morehead State (SB, AR), Centenary (SB), Saint Louis (AR) and Alabama-Birmingham (AR) will shoot.
Murray State will host an NCAA Sectionals on Feb. 13-15, then the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Feb. 20-22 and the NCAA Championships in March.
